Q. Where on the Island are you located? We are located on
the north side of the island, on Magens Bay Road, between Mahogany Run Golf
Course and Magens Beach, the only resort adjacent to both of these
attractions.
Q. Is the resort close to the beach? We
are a ½ mile from the beach. It is a twelve minute walk downhill, or a minute
and a half drive if you go by car.
Q. What timeshare exchange organization are you affiliated
with?We are affiliated with Resort Condominiums International (RCI), the largest
exchange organization in the world with over 7000 affiliated
resorts.
Q. What type of resort is Magens Point?It is a small, intimate, secluded 2 star resort located on a lush tropical
hill top overlooking Magens Bay and Mahogany Run Golf Course.
Q.
What is the history behind this resort? Originally called the Indies
House Hotel, it opened for business in 1967. In 1976 it was acquired by Magens
Point, Inc. and renamed Magens Point Hotel which was again changed in the early
1980s to Magens Point Resort. The timeshare concept was introduced in 1979
after extensive additions to the property.
Q. Are you
all inclusive? No, we are not an all inclusive resort.
Q.
How many units? We currently have (30) studio, (16) 1 bedroom and
(6) 2 bedroom units.
Q. How often do you conduct
renovations? We try to renovate every 2-4 years, but maintain our units
monthly depending on the needs.
Q. Does the resort close
a specific time of the year? No.
Q. What is your busiest season? Our
busiest time is from December 19 to May 1.
Q. What type
of climate do you have in St. Thomas? St. Thomas is a mountainous, volcanic
island with a tropical climate. Temperatures range in the winter from a low of
67 degrees F. in the higher elevations to 80 degrees on the beaches and lower
areas. The Summer season sees temperatures that range form the high 80’s to the
high 90’s.
Q. What is the age bracket of your
clientele? Depending on the time of the year, it generally ranges between 35
– 70.
Q. Where do the majority of your guests come
from? We do get a number of foreign guests however, the majority of our
guests come from the northeastern part of the US.
Q. Do
you offer child care? No.
Q. Do you allow pets?
While
we are very pro-active about animals and cooperate with the Humane Society's
various projects, we do not accept pets in the rooms.
Q.
Do you have pets on site? We are part of the Humane Society’s Cat Café program, which involves spaying-neutering-vaccinating and release of feral
cats. Some of our resident cats have lived on premises for over a decade.
Q. Are any vaccinations required before coming to St.
Thomas? No.
Q. How far is the resort from town and the
airport? Charlotte Amalie is 3.5 miles from the resort or, depending on
traffic, a ten minute drive. Cyril King Airport is 7.5 miles or about a 20
minute drive.
Q. How long does the reservation process
take? The check-in/check out is fairly fast and easy and usually takes no
more than 10 minutes.
Q. What type of credit cards do
you accept?
We accept all major credit cards: AMEX, VISA, MASTERCARD. We also
accept traveler checks.
Q. Is your staff
bilingual? Although English is our primary language, we have both Spanish and
French speaking staff.
Q. Is there any refund policy?
Yes.
Q. Is this resort only for timeshare members or
is it available for resort rentals? Depending on the season, availability and
length of stay we have a variety of programs. See our website

Q. Are there any additional fees that we
need to be aware of before booking our reservations? There is an 8%
government room tax and a daily energy surcharge on a per person
basis paid at time of reservation. Daily energy surcharges: - Members: $10 per night for 2 people; $10 per each add'l night per person in the unit
- Non-Members: $20 per night for 2 people; $10 per each add'l night per person in the unit.
Q. How many days do you allow for cancellation
and what is the % fee? May 1 – December 19 - 24 hours notice of cancellation
required. December 20 – April 30 - 72 hours notice required. Holiday
reservation cancellations require 21 day advance notice.
Q.
What type of accommodation/occupancy do you offer? Studio sleeps
two, 1 Bedroom sleeps four, 2 bedroom sleeps six.
Q. Do
you have rooms oriented to disabled and handicapped guests?
Not specifically. However, we provide assistance to guests that are
physically challenged on a request basis.
Q. Is there a
nurse on site? How far from any emergency room? No. The hospital emergency
room is about a 15 minute drive and emergency medical service is available by
calling 911. The EMT Service on island is fast and effective.
Q.
Do you have honeymoon suites?
Not specifically. However we do have villas that provide more of a romantic
experience. Call for details.
Q. Are we allowed to stay
at the resort until we are ready to depart? We are strict about our check-out
procedures especially during our busier times however, if requested at least 24
hours in advance, we will try to be as accommodating as possible.
Q. Do you have luggage storage? No. We use the Front
Desk area at this time.
Q. Do I make my own arrangements
for airport-resort transfers or does the resort provide a shuttle service?
We do not provide an airport shuttle service. Transportation arrangements for
individual travelers must be made at the airport. Airport taxi service is
available and a number of national car rental companies have services at the
airport.
Q. What are the Taxi fees? See our transportation

Q. Do you provide scheduled shuttle services
for guests to Magens Beach, Charlotte Amalie and Mahogany Run Gold
Course? No, we do not. In the past we did however, a new law was enacted in
2009 that prohibits hotels and resorts from providing free or discounted shuttle
services for guests.
Q. If a taxi is requested at the
Front desk, how long will it take for the taxi to arrive? In general, it
takes between 10 and 15 minutes for the taxi to arrive.
Q.
Do you have car rental services on site? We work closely with Budget
Rent A Car and can make arrangements for car rentals at the Front
Desk.
Q. What type of amenities does the resort
offer? We have a large fresh water pool with tropic rock garden waterfall,
video lottery machines, hot tub, pool bar, wine bar, convenience store, BBQ
areas and two lighted tennis courts.
Q. Do you have
private pools? No.
Q. Do you allow nudity at the
pool? No.
Q. Do you offer wedding planning
services? Yes. We work with Weddings the Island Way. Call for
details.
Q. How close are you to the golf courses? Are
there any packages available? The club house at Mahogany Run is 1 mile or
about a 2 minute drive from the resort. At present, we are not offering any golf
packages. If you want to play golf, we recommend you contact Mahogany Run
directly for tee time and cart reservations.
Q. Do you
have a restaurant on site? Yes. We have a pool bar serving sushi every day
and an "al fresco" dining restaurant serving international cuisine. We also have
a wine bar, and the Old Stone Farmhouse, a 5 star restaurant, is literally a 1
minute drive from us.
Q. What is the dress
code? Island casual.
Q. Do you have room
service? We do not provide room service but the restaurant does provide
take-out.
Q. What activities are available off
site? Anything from scuba diving to parasailing, golf, day and night
snorkeling, shopping, visiting other islands, power and sail boat rentals as
well as Jet Ski rentals, hiking and much more.
Q. Do you provide dine around program? On Fridays, we organize a
restaurant dine around either in Red Hook on the East end of the island or in
French Town in Charlotte Amalie. Each guest is however responsible for his/her
own transportation and individual meals.
Q. Do you
provide VIP services? Yes. Please contact the Front Desk for
details.
Q. Do you provide internet service in and out
the rooms? Is there a fee? Yes. We have Wi-Fi in the lobby and pool deck
areas and are currently working on expanding the service to the entire resort.
Dial up service is available from all the rooms. There is a nominal charge for
these services.
Q. Do you have coin laundry facilities
on site? Yes.
Q. What type of amenities do you provide
in the rooms? A kitchenette with a two burner, built-in stovetop, large
microwave, under counter fridge, coffeemaker, toaster, silverware, dishware,
pots & pans. In addition, we provide an iron, ironing board, TV, telephone,
hair dryer, room safe and A/C.
Q. What type of power
and do I need to walk with a special adapter for services? We provide standard
US 110-120 service. You do not need an adapter unless you come from a non-US
area.
Q. Do you have safes in the rooms? Yes. In
addition, safety deposit boxes are available at the Front Desk at no
charge.
Q. What time is check-in and
check-out? Check-in is at 4:00 p.m., check-out at 10:00
a.m.
Q. What is your tipping policy? While tipping is
very personal, we suggest $3 per day per person for the housekeepers, and
whatever you deem necessary for bellboy and anyone else that you feel deserves
it. Restaurants servers at the resort and elsewhere on the island expect
anywhere from 15-20% tip for services. |
